Position Summary:

This role is responsible to lead or participate in the installation, configuration, implementation and maintenance of third-party hardware or system software utilities. Lead or participate in project designs and upgrades of hardware or software systems within assigned IT area. Perform systems management and integration functions. Act as a key point of contact and advise team on complex technical issues and resolution of such.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Lead or participate in the evaluation, installation, configuration, implementation and maintenance of third-party hardware or system software utilities. Responsible to monitor, test and troubleshoot issues for assigned systems hardware or software as appropriate. Work with internal IT teams, external vendors, and cross-functional business partners as necessary.

  • Plan and implement timely upgrades, maintenance fixes and vendor-supplied patches for assigned systems hardware or software. Recommend and execute modifications to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance of infrastructure systems. Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and practices as required.

  • Lead or participate in project designs and upgrades of hardware or software systems within assigned IT area. Conduct research in support of procurement or development efforts as assigned.

  • Develop and maintain system architecture and troubleshooting documentation, user documentation for systems installed and/or created, and technical standards, procedures, and techniques for system issue resolution to ensure maximum system availability and performance levels.

  • Act as a key point of contact and advise team on complex technical issues and resolution of such. Identify and resolve issues and monitor resolution; partner with other IT areas to ensure resolution of issues.

  • Work closely with various IT teams as necessary to support the hardware and software systems.

  • Prepare and conduct presentations to IT management and discuss IT technology issues and solutions in a non-technical manner while ensuring understanding by targeted audience.

  • Provide guidance, mentoring and training for less experienced system engineers and IT support staff.

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best practices within Information Technology and remain current with new technologies and systems engineer methodologies and protocols. Make recommendations to improve current systems or processes.

  • Responsible to respond to system issues on a 7x24 basis and participate in an on-call rotation.

  • Check existing systems and suggest improvements.

  • Apply tech solutions to strengthen systems.

  • Customize systems from external vendors.

  • Review control documents.

  • Perform standard operating procedures.

  • Perform routine systems and software audits.

  • Work with Infrastructure engineering team to conduct ongoing testing and updates for related systems.

  • Provide support for large changes during after-hours and weekends.

  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

    Here's what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required) Information Technology, Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Seven years Information Technology experience in the assigned specialty area.

  • Requires excellent knowledge of computer hardware architecture and operating systems in a multi-system environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; strong customer service, interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting, decision-making and attention to detail skills.

  • Excellent project management skills; experience leading medium to large scale projects.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload, manage multiple concurrent projects, multi-task and shift priorities, lead through influence and delegate assignments as business needs.

  • Must be able to work independently and in team settings. Must participate in an on-call rotation.

  • Ability to travel occasionally (up to 10%) as needed.

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience

  • Experience with monitoring systems

  • ·Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks

  • Experience with monitoring systems

  • Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate but may be high in distribution settings. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
