Mgr, Chain Account Executive

Position Summary:

This role is responsible to represent the company by maintaining a close, positive and effective relationship with key national growth account(s) and cultivating new business based on providing effective solutions, guidance, strategies, programs and tools that foster success in company's business. Regularly audit and analyze retailers' operations, assortments, and develop plans for improved performance.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and the key national account(s) by developing positive, strong, close and lasting customer relationships that enhance trust in the company, improve customer loyalty and longevity and ensure quick and effective communication and problem resolution.

  • Engage in regular contact with customers to identify needs and provide integrated full scope solutions.

  • Provide expertise to customers on operational and/or product assortment, and merchandising issues and recommend solutions.

  • Ensure retailers understand all the services the Company provides.

  • Develop annual and seasonal business plan and sales & marketing strategy in alignment with company's overarching strategy to ensure attainment of revenue and profit goals.

  • Create and execute sales and marketing plans specific to individual retailer based upon consumer, category, and competitive insights that are aligned with the customer's strategy and focus on driving growth and market share.

  • Measure the success or failure of business-building initiatives and identify opportunity gaps that can be corrected as needed to ensure growth.

  • Assist with negotiating supply agreements that drive improved financials.

  • Provide management with updates on key account sales, programs, and services, and present new ideas to upper management to increase sales.

  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current processes and work with National Accounts team and/or Business Development team to create and implement new processes.

  • Collaborate with field retail leadership to understand trends, issues, obstacles, opportunities, and partner to implement solutions.

  • Partner with procurement teams to analyze and identify inventory trends and make recommendations to ensure compliance with Company inventory guidelines.

  • Communicate customer needs and expectations to all business units involved (i.e. procurement, customer service, distribution, transportation, etc.) and respond to questions/issues as needed.

  • Responsible for department management including staffing, training, performance management and career development of associates, and developing and monitoring department goals.

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes.

  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required) in Marketing, Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years combined experience in sales, account management and/or portfolio management; experience with Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) preferred and/or value-added fresh food to go preferred.

  • Experience in retail grocery management, wholesale, fresh food, or food industry environment preferred.

  • Excellent ability to prioritize and self-motivate.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills including a strong ability to present new ideas and persuade individuals and thrive on networking.

  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, including evaluating possible outcomes.

  • Strong working knowledge of products and services, and industry trends.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to travel up to 75%.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate but may be high in distribution settings. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
