Part-Time Battery Mechanic

Part-Time 1st Shift

Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays from 6 AM to 2 PM

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for basic routine maintenance of equipment (including but not limited to batteries, racking, watering systems, and area) following defined procedures, processes, and guidance from more senior staff.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct basic routine maintenance of equipment

  • Discuss repair orders and priorities with leadership, as well as any issues or conditions which may affect the operation of equipment

  • Review and follow the preventative maintenance schedule to ensure equipment maintenance occurs within appropriate timeframe to prevent breakdowns + down time

  • Utilize maintenance systems such as Square Rigger/other software as appropriate to ensure accurate and timely documentation of work and inventory

  • Order replacement parts, ensure that the parts ordered are correct and complete at the time of order.

  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas and a safe working environment.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

What You'll Need:

  • Driver’s License (Required)

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED) (Required)

  • Proficiency in the use of mechanical tools required

  • Hilo License (Preferred), ability to obtain forklift certificate required

  • 1 year mechanical/machinery maintenance and/or repair experience or related technical school certificate (strongly preferred)

  • Basic computer skills

  • Good communication skills, written and verbal to communicate and/or document maintenance needs and status of projects.

  • Must report for work regularly and on time, as scheduled.

  • Must be able to take direction from supervisor(s) and works well with others.

  • Must work well under pressure, and is able to organize and prioritize work assignments, and meet established deadlines.

  • Must perform assigned tasks accurately and completely.

  • Must be flexible and able to handle changes in work requirements productively.

Physical Requirements:

Must frequently sit, walk and stand, use hands to handle, grasp, and twist objects, tools, or controls, and use both feet for repetitive movements as in operating foot controls. Must frequently walk, talk, crouch, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, and reach with the hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance as needed. While performing the duties of this position, employees are subject to a warehouse environment and may frequently be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity based on assignment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Employees must be able to work weekends, holidays, days and night hours, and overtime as necessary and as assigned, and must be able to work in the condition specified for 8-10 hours shift as assigned. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
