Fleet Compliance Specialist

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for administration of the Fleet Safety & Compliance program within assigned area(s) ensuring the fleet maintains compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations including, but not limited to the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Company programs and processes.

Here's what you’ll do:

  • Administer the CMV fleet safety program including managing appropriate procedures, audits and inspections.

  • Collect and analyze data from fleet telematics and technology solutions escalating potential issues for resolution.

  • Provide updates based on evaluations/observations; work with fleet safety management and fleet maintenance management to address compliance gaps.

  • Maintains driver qualification files, audit driver HOS, unassigned vehicle activities (UVA) and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR)'s for compliance. Partner with transportation leadership on compliance concerns and issue resolution including providing education and explanations surrounding importance of compliance and how to maintain.

  • Gather documentation for roadside inspections and send back to the state as necessary, filing appropriately.

  • Administer DOT drug and alcohol program for the sites including manager notification, driver notification, and collection tracking.

  • Record vehicle collisions in company platform(s), collect required documentation, and ensure completion of post-accident drug testing when required.

  • Maintain working relationships and partner with transportation management team on initiatives supporting the company fleet safety programs, procedures and compliance.

  • Other duties as assigned

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two to three (2-3) plus years of experience in safety, transportation and over-the-road carriers required.

  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA/ OSHA/EPA regulations related to fleet compliance.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to provide effective training.

  • Ability to effectively organize, prepare and/or present statistical data.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Excel.

The associate is frequently required to sit/stand/walk. While performing duties of this position, the associate is subject to an office environment and/or distribution setting and is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment varies: office setting may be low to moderate; Distribution center/transportation setting may be moderate to high.
