The IT Applications Technical Lead provides IT technical leadership in driving day to day support and project delivery needs in the IT Merchandising and Corporate applications portfolio. The candidate should have an in-depth knowledge and experience in designing, configuring, programming, testing and implementing one or more applications and integrations between applications (inc. SaaS). The IT technical lead should be able to work closely with business functions, IT Business Systems Analysts, and IT consultants to design and build solutions to solve SpartanNash’s rapidly evolving digital transformation business needs.
The IT technical lead should be a thought leader who is expected to keep up with industry standards and best practices and is able to translate these concepts into practical solutions in the context of SpartanNash. The successful candidate should be able to consult, conceptualize, solve and design solutions, and to become a valued key partner to the business. The IT technical lead should be a self-starter and a quick learner that can develop a deep understanding of the business applications and the applications and integrations architecture and design patterns and be able to successfully drive the day-to-day execution of technology needs. This a hybrid role at our headquarters in Byron Center, Michigan.
Minimum Requirements:
•7+ years of IT experience in enterprise grade SaaS applications, preferably Retail Merchandising, Finance and HR domains.
•Demonstrated excellence in designing, programming, and implementing SaaS solutions, middleware and legacy integrations in multiple implementation cycles.
•Past experience as a systems engineer and lead designer for retail industry solutions focusing on integrations approach and cloud migration strategy.
•Experience in all aspects of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and open-source Middleware in support of business modernization initiatives.
•Awareness and understanding of PCI, PII, SOX and HIPAA guidelines.
•Basic understanding of data modeling and data architecture.
•Experience using Agile and DevOps tools in planning and managing systems analysis, design, development, configuration, testing and release.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
Combine functional process expertise with in-depth technical knowledge of applications to consult with business on optimal approaches to solve business needs.
Lead applications design, architecture, and proof-of-concept to identify technology options and solutions.
Lead applications solutions effort estimation, design, programming, testing and implementations.
Facilitate design workshops with business subject matter experts as well as technology teams, bringing industry expertise and experience where required to re-imagine and redesign technology solutions.
Work with external consultants, systems integrators and SpartanNash IT professionals to design, build and deliver solutions in both agile and waterfall models. Ensure solutions are feasible and fit into long-term strategy with applications.
Manage complexity of platforms through an understanding of where customization is required for fit-to-win capabilities versus maintaining systems standardization in fit-to-compete capability areas.
Help develop strategic roadmaps for applications capabilities with a vision of how systems will evolve and grow to meet future needs of the business.
Work in close partnership with business to scope and define requirements, injecting thought leadership and out-of-the-box solutions to the business needs.
As a technical expert, provide mentorship and guidance to business systems analysts on the art of the possible with systems solutions.
Proactively identify opportunities for improvements in the use of technology solutions to drive business efficiency and effectiveness.
Understand and manage complexities of integration across internal applications systems, and with Snowflake data warehouse, 3rd party applications and SaaS solutions.
Manage infrastructure, cloud and security considerations and work closely with the security and infrastructure IT teams to specify requirements.
Work closely with Enterprise Architecture in the evaluation, recommendation, and selection of solutions relevant to the applications space.
Exercise judgment in assessing and recommending technology solutions from integrations architecture and data modeling standpoint.
Design and develop ETL processes, preferably using Talend, to extract, transform, and load data. Troubleshoot issues and optimize performance of ETL processes and data integrations.
Support major enterprise initiatives as it relates to API led architecture and API standards such as REST and SOAP.
Provide day to day applications support and drive toward incident reduction targets.
