Job Description:

Position Summary:

This role is responsible to perform distribution center audits in accordance with a combination of FSMA and GFSI standards. Responsible for audit reports and corrective action follow-up.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Conduct on-site food safety, quality assurance and sanitation audits for distribution center (DC) locations to ensure compliance with federal, state, certifiable and/or company requirements.

  • Discuss audit results with DC director to ensure understanding of issues and corrective action opportunities.

  • Create audit reports and submit to multiple groups within the organization for review.

  • Ensure corrective action plans are submitted by the DC and are adequate to correct any issues and prevent them from reoccurring in the future.

  • Track DC performance on a quarterly and annual basis.

  • Provide reports to appropriate personnel.

  • Assist in streamlining documentation opportunities at DC locations.

  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Safety, Food Science, Environmental Health, Microbiology or related area or equivalent combination of education and/ or experience.

  • Three years preferred in developing, implementing, and/or training on food safety, sanitation, quality assurance or related subjects.

  • Certifications in HACCP, Seafood HACCP, PCQI, GFSI and Food Safety preferred.

  • Ability to travel roughly 80% of the time for overnight trips.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good organizational, prioritization, presentation, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills.

  • Ability to work independently, identify and solve problems, and maintain working relationships with internal associates.

  • Must be knowledgeable in local, state and federal food safety and sanitation related laws and regulatory requirements.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

May be required to lift and/or move 20 pounds. The associate is frequently required to sit/stand/walk. While performing the duties of this position, the associate is subject to a typical office environment and is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions. Temperatures may vary for those subject to any of the following areas: computer/server room, print shop, production area). The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate but may be high in distribution settings. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
