Job Description:

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for general Fleet Safety compliance within assigned area(s) and to maintain compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations including, but not limited to the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and CSA (Comprehensive Safety Analysis 2010).

This is a hybrid role based at our corporate office in Norfolk, VA

Here's what you'll do:

  • Participate in the fleet safety program including policies and procedures, audits and inspections by leading the data reporting and analysis of OmniTracs ELD/tracking data related to safety metrics. Advise management of the results and any potential issues.

  • Review logs/electronic logging device (ELD) accordingly. Provide updates based on evaluations/observations; work with fleet safety management to address compliance gaps.

  • Maintains compliance with DOT/FMCSA requirements and records for driver qualifications, unassigned vehicle activities (UVA) and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR). Provide guidance to Fleet Safety team on compliance and work with transportation management on issue resolution to communicate policies accordingly.

  • Assist with locations that do not have shop support, update and maintain third party invoices/work orders in Squarerigger maintenance system.

  • Maintain working relationships and partner with the transportation management team regarding fleet safety programs, policies and compliance.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Two to three (2-3) years of experience in safety, transportation and over-the-road carriers required.

  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA fleet compliance regulations. Prior driver experience/Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) a plus.

The associate is frequently required to sit/stand/walk. While performing duties of this position, the associate is subject to an office environment and/or distribution setting and is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment varies: office setting may be low to moderate; Distribution center/transportation setting may be moderate to high.
