CDL Drivers
“I’m always ready to roll.”
Careers for a better life.

Safety first
SpartanNash employs more than 600 full-time Class A CDL Drivers across three DOT numbers, and we are proud to have some of the safest drivers in the industry. You’ll receive up to two weeks of hands-on training, including classroom orientation, local and overnight runs and a customized defensive driving course.

Driver schedules
For the most part, our drivers are home every night, and we make every effort to limit the number of overnight routes. Companywide, about 17 percent of our runs are overnight, and some distribution centers have a higher frequency. Full details on your location’s schedule can be provided in the interview.

Modern equipment
We have some of the industry’s best maintained equipment. The average age of our tractors is less than four years old. Trailers are less than seven years old and are equipped with on-board computers, satellite tracking and remote temperature monitoring for food safety quality control.

Flexibility required
SpartanNash drivers are flexible to adjust their work schedules and days off, able to work on short notice to accommodate changes in volume and adaptable to perform necessary related tasks. In time, you will be able to bid on a regular run.

Beyond the wheel
Our SpartanNash Military drivers do not generally touch their freight; however, as we expand into other types of business, we do have some amount of unloading that is needed. Drivers at our other distribution centers tailgate, pull pallets using a pallet jack or unload using a hand truck.

Growth opportunity
SpartanNash is in a growth mode, offering significant career opportunities. We offer several paths within supply chain, as well as the potential to move across the company into new areas. We develop people from within and create our own leaders.

“SpartanNash is a team company.”
It’s refreshing to see that type of atmosphere today. Every employee knows their job function is crucial to accomplish a given task. It’s also comforting that we have a safety department in house that really does care about safety and compliance.

SpartanNash also offers plenty of career opportunities in Supply Chain.
We also take care of the people who take care of us – communities, service men and women – through our SpartanNash Military military division.
