Formed in 2015, the SpartanNash Foundation provides grants to nonprofit partners in the communities we serve. In 2019, we granted more than $1.3 million to community nonprofit organizations. Outreach includes providing hunger relief, securing shelter and supporting our military heroes. We are also deeply committed to continuing our partnership with Special Olympics, which dates back to 1985. To date, we have donated more than $9.6 million and thousands of volunteer hours to Special Olympics. Check out our annual corporate responsibility report for details.

Involvement
Volunteering
In both 2018 and 2019, associates volunteered more than 56,000 hours annually, making an economic impact of more than $1.3 million each year.
Retail Scan Campaigns
In 2019, we raised and granted more than $1 million through four company wide scan campaigns, benefiting local Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, patriotic and food pantry partners the third consecutive year the fundraising efforts have topped $1 million.
Double Up Food Bucks™
This program enables Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants to earn free produce when they buy fresh fruits and vegetables with their SNAP benefit.
Food Donations
5.5 million pounds of food are donated annually to food banks and pantries to feed families in need and to divert the food from landfills.
Events
We also support events such as fireworks, parades, youth development teams and fundraiser walks, runs, relays and bike races.




Environmental Efforts
Earth Week
Through our annual Earth Week programs, we engage and educate our customers, communities and associates while promoting environmental stewardship. Since 2011, SpartanNash's Earth Week Goodwill donation drives have collected 1,317,925 pounds of donations, equal to more than 282,400 hours of workforce development training.
Corporate Responsibility
Our corporate responsibility dashboard includes company-wide initiatives to reduce waste and energy consumption to minimize our carbon footprint. From LEED buildings to lighting and refrigeration systems, our business decisions are driven by their impact on the environment.
